The golden sun setting into the backwaters. A cool breeze with light showers. It seemed a perfect setting for a holiday in Gods Own Country. The waterfront of the Taj at Kochi was a picturesque location for a Tata Crucible as teams reefed past a tough prelim to get on stage for the final.
FINALISTS
The Kochi final was a tense, thoughtful battle where all teams stood their ground with perhaps the objective of not taking negatives. With caution being the mantra the quiz moved from one segment to another, without any team making significant progress.
With five questions to go all the six teams had a fair chance of winning the quiz as the seasoned quizmaster observed, “In all the cities we have gone to, there has been no city where all teams are below 100 and we are in the final round”. “It reflects the closeness of these teams” he added.
In the final segment, Idea Cellular took an early lead and decided to play it from a vantage point without picking negatives, while Kraft Foods came from behind to outwit Federal Bank and FACT to win the runner up title. The duo from Idea Cellular will now represent Kochi in the south zone final.
The guest of honour Mr. Dinesh Thampi, Vice President and Head TCS Kochi, appreciated quizzing as a “tool for learning” and Tata Crucible as a platform that connects you to the world.
