Tata Crucible Hackathon 2019 IIT Kharagpur Results

IIT Kharagpur emerge champions at Tata Crucible Campus Hackathon 2019 – Mumbai Finals

The Mumbai Finals of Tata Crucible Campus Hackathon were held on Saturday March 23, 2019 at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering. 17 shortlisted teams attended the event which included 3 teams from East Zone. Santosh Singh, Global Head of Business Excellence and Innovation at Tata Technologies and Dr. Kashinath Patil, Dean Research and Development at K. J Somaiya College of Engineering were the Jury members for the event. After the prototype evaluation round, 7 teams were shortlisted for the presentation round which included teams from IIT Bombay, BITS Pilani Goa, IIT Kharagpur, Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat, Nirma University, Ahmedabad and M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering, Mumbai.

The winning team comprised of T.Y.S.S.Santosh and Sudeshna Sarkar from IIT Kharagpur who presented a solution on the Tata Trusts challenge for “Low cost technology solution for effective sanitization of community toilets” and their solution was a Robot named TOIBOT. The runner up team comprised of Anubhav Gupta, Disha Kumari, Rashmi Ranjan and Saswat Srangi from Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar and they presented a solution for “Development of innovative safety measures for two-wheelers” and their solution was titled ‘Bike Monitoring and Safety Mechanism’ which intends to solve the two wheeler safety problem by the use of smart sensors and micro controllers in collaboration with each other, which will detect all the obstacles/vehicles in the front and rear end and notify it to the driver and also reduce the speed of the vehicle.
