Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021 North Zone finals Results

Team from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad wins the North Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021

The North Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021 were held on June 14, 2021. 7 teams presented their innovative solutions at the North Zone Finals. Due to the ongoing pandemic all final events are being held virtually, and teams presented their solutions online.

The jury for the finals comprised of Mr. H. C. Sharma, HOD, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. and Mr. Suneel TS, General Manager, Open Innovation, Tata Group.

The winning team - ISMITES from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad ,comprised of Aastha Sinha, Aman Harsh, Aman Kumar and Gyanendra Das, who presented a solution for the challenge - Mobile application for 2D barcode scanning from metal surface. Their proposed solution was an app with computer vision-based image processing model.

Close to 3000 teams participated in the Hackathon this year. 600+ teams participated from North Zone. Finally, 7 teams made it to the North Zone Finals.

The winning team qualified to compete at the National Finals held on June 25, 2021. The winning team at the Zonal Finals took home a cash prize of Rs.70,000*.

Young student team wins the East Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021

The East Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021 were held on June 15, 2021. 8 teams presented their innovative solutions at the East Zone finals. Due to the ongoing pandemic all final events are being held virtually, and teams presented their solutions online.

The jury for the finals comprised of Mr. Dinkar Anand, Chief Spares & Services - Shared Services, Tata Steel Ltd., Mr. Piyush Mishra, Technology & Innovation Leader, Tata Sons and Mr. Dhiraj Gyani, Director - Education & Govt. Engagements, GitHub.

The winning team - ESOTERICS comprised of Siddharta Shankar Paul from National Institute of Technology,Silchar. Madhubanti Mitra from Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, University of Delhi, and Rudrani Dutta from Sri Aurobindo College(M),University of Delhi, who presented a solution for the challenge - Design of squatting toilet seat & Reduction in water consumption in public toilets. Their proposed solution was a smart toilet which uses technology to curb the usage of excessive water and other energy sources.

Close to 3000 teams participated in the Hackathon this year. 500+ teams participated from East Zone. Finally, 8 teams made it to the East Zone Finals.

The winning team qualified to compete at the National Finals held on June 25, 2021. The winning team at the Zonal Finals took home a cash prize of Rs.70,000*.

Team from Maharashtra Institute of technology, Pune wins the West Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021

The West Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021 were held on June 16-17, 2021. 18 teams presented their innovative solutions at the West Zone finals. Due to the ongoing pandemic all final events are being held virtually, and teams presented their solutions online.

The jury for the finals comprised of Mr. Santosh Singh, Global Head of Business Excellence and Innovation at Tata Technologies, Mr. Vijetha Shastry, Executive Director, TiE Bangalore, Mr. Saurabh Jain, Founder - Fun2Do Labs and Dr. Purnendu Sinha from Group Innovation, Tata Sons, leading innovation in Tata Group Companies in Infrastructure and Aerospace & Defence sectors and Suneel TS, General Manager - Open Innovation, Tata Group

The winning team - ACCISTA- from Maharashtra Institute of technology, Pune comprised of Nihar Gurunath Sabnis, Harshal Mahendra Patil and Deepankar Ojha , who presented a solution for the challenge - Development of innovative road safety measures for two-wheelers. Their proposed solution was an integration of 3 systems – electronic, mechatronic, and mechanical to minimize the damage during accidents caused by the rider getting caught between the bike and the road.

The runner-up team – MESON LABS comprising of Ashish Sharma from S2A AI Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Sanket Kumar Sinha from Tata Consultancy Services, presented their solution for the challenge - Mobile application for 2D barcode scanning from metal surface. Their proposed solution was to provide a quality measure for the “mobile phone captured 2D barcodes” in order to reject poor quality images prior to decoding

Close to 3000 teams participated in the Hackathon this year. 400+ teams participated from West Zone. Finally, 18 teams made it to the West Zone Finals.

The winning team qualified to compete at the National Finals held on June 25, 2021. The winning team at the Zonal Finals took home a cash prize of Rs.70,000*.

A Corporate Team wins the South Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021

The South Zone finals of Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021 were held on June 18, 2021. 9 teams presented their innovative solutions at the South Zone finals. Due to the ongoing pandemic all final events are being held virtually, and teams presented their solutions online.

The jury for the finals comprised of Mr. Laxmidhar Biswal – Head - Centre for Innovation and Technology Excellence (CITE), Jewellery Division, Titan, Mr. Varad Krishna, Cofounder - The 100 Open Start-ups and Mr. Suneel TS, General Manager - Open Innovation, Tata Group.

The winning team - DRIX – a corporate team comprising of Shashank Punia from Robert Bosch, Hansum Krishna , Vishwas Navada from Tejas Networks and Asif Sajjad from Bangalore Institute of Technology presented a solution for the challenge Live Shipment Tracker. Their proposed solution was a Blockchain-enabled Live Tracking solution (BELTS) that offers a complete end-to-end solution for logistics tracking.

The Runner -up Team – Castigatorii – comprising of Abishek G, Suchithra S, Lolla Akshatha Devi, from PSG College of Technology and Vaibav Bajra from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, presented a solution for the challenge - Design of squatting toilet seat & Reduction in water consumption in public toilets. Their proposed solution was a Hyperboloid Toilet’ which works on the hyperboloid mechanism works, similar to a camera shutter.

Close to 3000 teams participated in the Hackathon this year. 1300+ teams participated from South Zone. Finally, 9 teams made it to the South Zone Finals.

The winning team qualified to compete at the National Finals held on June 25, 2021. The winning team at the Zonal Finals took home a cash prize of Rs.70,000*.

A young team from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad ,comprising of Aastha Sinha, Aman Harsh, Aman Kumar and Gyanendra Das, who presented a solution for the challenge - Mobile application for 2D barcode scanning from metal surface emerged as National Champions at Tata Crucible Hackathon 2021. Their proposed solution was an app with computer vision-based image processing model.

The Jury for the National Finals comprised of Mr. Abhijeet Kumar Mishra - Head of Global Business Unit, Tata International Limited, Mr. Sanjay Ranawade - GM, Integrated Supply Chain Management, Titan, Mr. Pankaj Jhunja, Head of Mobility Innovation Hub at Tata Motors and Mr. Suneel TS, General Manager - Open Innovation, Tata Group.

The other three Zonal winners who competed at the National Finals were

Close to 3000 teams participated in the Hackathon this year and over 1000 solutions were shared by the teams. The solutions were assessed on the basis of Rich technical content, Simplicity of the solution, Ease of Implementation, Cost Effectiveness, and Innovation. Shortlisted teams competed at four zonal finals and winners from each zonal final competed at the National Final.

The winning team at the National Finals took home a cash prize of Rs.1.5 lakhs*.
